Aftercare
IMPORTANT: When removing second skin bandage, you must remove it very gently and slowly with warm water running over it (ideally in the shower). Gently peel the second skin from the edge back over itself. Click here for a deep dive on healing your tattoo with second skin.
Try to keep the second skin on for 3 or 4 days (It’s okay to remove it sooner for any reason. I recommend removing it as soon as possible if it’s leaking at all, if your skin is turning red or feeling any irritation)
Apply a thin layer of fragrance free moisturizer a few times a day for 2 weeks (you can continue applying thin layers of moisturizer occasionally for the next few months as the tattoo continues to heal)
For two weeks, avoid swimming, sauna, and try to keep the tattoo out of the sun.
Be sure to keep it very clean, especially for the first few days.
Showers and exercise are okay whenever, even before removing the second skin.
The second skin bandage below is an example of how the second skin bandage will look during healing. This is totally normal!
